			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Are you in the market to buy an existing business? Well, if you are I have some things to share with you that will help you make the right decision.</p>
<p>First, you&#8217;re probably wondering who I am and what gives me the right to offer this information. Good questions. Look, buying a business is a big deal and you don&#8217;t want to take information from just anyone.</p>
<p>My name is Nathan Goldstein, and since 2001 I&#8217;ve been the owner and CEO of a business brokerage called Vested Business Brokers. What we do is assist individuals in the buying and selling of profitable, privately owned companies.</p>
<p>As a business broker I get to speak with hundreds of people who frequently ask me&#8230;<em>“Mr. Goldstein, what kind of company should I focus on in trying to <a title="buy a business" href="http://vestedbb.com/how-to-buy-a-business/">buy a business</a>?</em>&#8221; My answer is always the same&#8230;<em>&#8220;A profitable one&#8221;</em>.  I know that seems obvious, so let me be a little more specific.</p>
<p>I would try to find a business that fits YOUR personality. For example: I&#8217;m a sales person, that&#8217;s why I would focus on a business opportunity to buy that would be geared towards my skills. What are your skills? What are you really good at? Whatever it is, if you can find a business to buy that would benefit from those skills you will do well.</p>
<p>At Vested, we have closed transactions on more than 1000 small businesses. I guess you can say that we know understand the things folks are doing well and the things people are doing in their businesses that aren&#8217;t very productive.</p>
<p><strong>The S.W.O.T. Analysis</strong></p>
<p>In determining whether a business is a good one to buy we recommend the S.W.O.T. Analysis. This is an analysis of the <em>Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and the Threats</em> of the underlying business. This is generally the first step to finding the best business for you.</p>
<p><strong>Find The Weaknesses&#8230;</strong></p>
<p>Sometimes a business with a glaring weakness is the best one to buy, especially if that weakness is in an area which is one of your strengths. Why? Because if you can improve that weakness and through your expertise you can make it a strength, then this is where you can make a huge profit.</p>
<p>When I see a business that you know you can improve you should gobble it up right away&#8230;and then get to work!  In fact, i will go so far as to say that you should be careful buying a business UNLESS you think that you can improve it.</p>
